Comper

Compers are competition winners. Well, a comper is a person who enters competitions, at least, and many of us are winners, we win prizes, lots of prizes.

So, some compers win lots of prizes, others flit in and out of comping for years and never seem to win a thing. Why is this?

Steady Work Makes a Lucky Comper

It used to amuse me sometimes, when I had searched out entry forms, bought the required proof of purchases, then worked for hours, for evenings and weekends, finding out the answers to questions, sorting things into order of preference, writing slogans, perfecting little rhymes, filling everything in and sending it off ..................

You know what is coming next, don't you? You win a prize and all your painstaking work in dismissed in a flourish, when you are told, "You are so lucky with these things, I never win anything!"

You Have to Be In To Win

This could be the first rule of comping, and the main thing which sorts out the lucky ones from the never wins. The people who never win anything never, or seldom, enter competitions.

If you don't enter a competition, you can't win it, simple really, so why do so many people fall down at the first hurdle? They probably just don't realise how easy it is to win something in a competition, and they also can't be bothered, I'd guess.

So that is the first principle of comping, you have to enter the competition! Don't laugh, you will soon have people telling you how lucky you are and you will smile, like we do!

The future dedicated compers will be just a little ahead of us now, and will be thinking, yes, and the more competitions I enter, the more likely I will be to win something. Kerching! They have seen the light, but they just need a little guidance to put them on the winning path.

Here is the winning path to how to improve your chances of winning competitions
